This is neat!
[gendertruckery’s lovely chart removed :)]
Plotted how I feel I am. ’Cause I can.
This version seems better but I still feel like it misses out all the non-binary identification that isn’t on the Male / Female sliders… Mostly in just Gender Expression. Otherwise it seems better.
the more I see this the more problems I find. personally, I’m unable to plot myself on Identity or Expression. I would need Gender: other, or Third Gender on there too.
I don’t understand how Asexual (having no sexual attraction to others) is linked to Biological Sex. Also Biological Sex chart is deeply problematic and excludes Intersex people. Attracted To could be split into romantic and sexual.
Still, I did show it to my parents to help them understand
Asex meaning sex-less rather than Asexual. Also, the twin sliders of biological sex do fit with intersexed persons, a couple of examples are given there, but again it still needs a third.
Also, I meant to say that it needs a third bar in gender identity and expression, not just expression… It’s a very binary system, even with the included spots for overlap. It still fails to understand the concept of a gender that isn’t bound to these rules of either/or.
It’s an imperfect system built into an imperfect societal view that helps to explain it to someone who has absolutely no idea of how we feel… I didn’t need it for my parents but I may need it on Monday when I’m planning on being around a lot of Cis people who have no idea how this works. :/
I think a key thing to remember with this chart is nothing is solid. I may have plotted myself down right now based on how I feel I am. It could be different in a week, a month… Nothing on here should be set in stone… For example, should I start HRT, I’d slide the Female-ness bar up on Biological Sex. If I start comfortably presenting female in public, I’d likely drop the Masculine bar of expression. My gender identity has been in flux since I can remember but currently I identify as Female with a hint of male. It’s possible that’ll stay, flip or drift at any point…
And yet I don’t feel like I identify as gender fluid? Maybe it’s because I just take it as a given…
My girlfriend and I wanted to cuddle, but we wanted to play Diablo too. This is what happened.
